The middle of the coast

The Costa del Sol runs from Nerja in the east to Manilva in the west. Fuengirola sits roughly in the middle. That's where Velvet is. Only there.

Málaga doesn't get a branch, Marbella doesn't get a second address. That's the honest version of a weed club on the Costa del Sol: one club, one town, most of the coast within an hour.

How it works here

Nowhere on this coast, or anywhere else in Spain, will you find an Amsterdam-style coffee shop or cannabis for sale over a counter. A cannabis club in Spain works as a private non-profit association of adult members. You become a member first; nobody walks in as a customer. More on that.

You join once, in person, in Fuengirola. After that you're a member. Two requirements: 18 or older, and your original ID document on you (no photos or copies). That's the whole list.

Getting here

From the Málaga side

Málaga, the airport, Torremolinos and Benalmádena are all on the Cercanías C-1, which ends in Fuengirola. About 45 minutes from Málaga Centro-Alameda, less from every stop after it. Departures are roughly 20 minutes apart, though not overnight. Check the last one back on the Renfe timetable.

From the Marbella and Estepona side

No train west of Fuengirola. Take the A-7 along the coast, or the AP-7 toll motorway inland. Marbella is around half an hour by car, Estepona a bit under an hour. Intercity buses link both with Fuengirola bus station.

Coming by car? Then the car decides: you don't consume. On Spanish roads a positive saliva test is enough for a fine. How you feel doesn't come into it.

From Nerja and Torre del Mar

No train out there either. Take the ALSA bus to Málaga bus station, next to María Zambrano, then the C-1.
